Fees (sliding scale): It is a sliding scale, which means folks are asked to pay what they are able to. We ask that organizations that are able to, please pay the full amount so we can subsidize the cost of individuals and community groups. That's how the Ontario Health Coalition works.

Due to the limitations of Shopify, the online store only charges the maximum amount for each day. There is a sliding scale, however, and you can pay via e-transfer to admin@ontariohc.ca (include "Assembly Registration" in your message), in-person or by cheque to 201-15 Gervais Drive, Toronto, ON, M3C 1Y8 and pay a smaller amount.

What: The Ford government is privatizing our hospitals, long-term care, home care, primary care, Public Health, addiction treatment and more. Illegal user fees and extra billing of patients are rampant and the Ford government is letting them happen. Closures of local hospitals’ emergency departments, urgent care, birthing, inpatient beds, operating rooms and entire sites continue. The Ford government is driving our public health care into disarray while pouring resources into expanding privatization.

Now we are facing a provincial election. At stake are the future ownership of our vital health services, the future existence of local hospitals, even the future of single-tier public medicare.

Come and hear where the fightback is seeing some success. Working with the families of long-term care, the unions and health professionals, academics and advocates, we have forced the reinstatement of inspections and the beginning of fines for substandard care in long-term care. Ontario has the deepest opposition to health care privatization in the country, in part because of our work. Polls are indicating that approximately 80% of Ontarians think the Ford government is doing a poor or very poor job on health care. The majority of Ontarians oppose privatization and, no matter their political stripe, people are deeply opposed to the closure of their local hospital services.

It is a start but we need to regroup, focus and build the fightback of our lives. Please attend if you can.

Hotel Rooms: We have reserved a block of hotel rooms at a reduced rate at the Chelsea Hotel, 33 Gerrard St. W. The rate is at $179 + tax/night.

This block rate is available to all attendees of the Assembly from any organization. Please do not wait until the last minute in case all the rooms are gone. If you book early and the rooms go quickly, we have a chance of getting more. It is not possible to do so at the last minute.

To book your room, please use this link: https://tinyurl.com/OHCHotel25 or call 1 (800) 243-5732 and cite the Ontario Health Coalition Room Block to receive the reduced rate. Please book as soon as possible, as space is limited and the deadline to book your hotel room at the discounted rate is Tuesday December 24.

Local Coalitions: We are happy to be able to fund up to two representatives from each active local health coalition. All subsidies must be pre-approved by Natalie Mehra, executive director. To be approved for a subsidy, you must be a designated representative from your local coalition, your local coalition must be active, and you must fill out a subsidy request form & email it to Natalie Mehra at natalie@ontariohc.ca. Subsidy request forms have been sent to local coalition co chairs or you can contact Natalie to receive one.
